Day 20 - JD on the Rocks, TN

No visit to Tennessee would be complete without a visit to the Jack Daniels distillery in Lynchburg. All the JD drunk all over the world is produced in this one distillery!

Lynchburg is actually a really unusual town and not the sort of place you'd expect your bottle of JD to come from! The town only has a population of about 6,000, it is really rural, in the middle of nowhere, has an old fashioned square with a few locally run tourist shops and restaurants and the Jack Daniels Distillery. That is it! No hotels or big brands. What is even odder about Lynchburg is that it is in a dry county. It is illegal to buy or sell alcohol in Lynchburg, not the best location for an alcohol-based tourist attraction!

Somehow, Jack Daniels have managed to bypass at least some of the dry county laws as our tour ended with a sampling of 5 very small thimble sized Jack Daniels and their gift shop was selling bottles of Jack although it was more expensive than in the UK!

  1. Loved your video although if I had been with you I would have needed 3 days in Lynchburg and would have had to go to the JD Factorytwice a day to get a proper taste as the samples looked very small indeed. Love to you both Mumxx

  2. Last few vids and you guys have really been hitting your stride, they are excellent updates. Good camera work and commentary from Sam in particular although Lee's additions are great too and you both add interesting and funny updates of what you are doing.
It was great too see what goes on in Finn too and I spotted the Mardi Gras beads so was chuffed when you mentioned them :-)
Lynchburg old town looked typically small town America and was pretty and quaint.
The tour was interesting, I do love a tour like this (ice-cream, chocolate or alcohol)
Geez, that was quite some pizza - loaded
Some lovely countryside and views on your journey to the campsite.
Good again to see your pitch, tent and evening meal.
A post credits scene too - yay!!

PS - I also really love hearing little snippets of what you are listening to on the car radio whenever that crops up.
