Day 37 - Eureka Springs, AR

I was expecting a road trip of this size to be stressful. All the driving, only staying in places one or two nights at a time, dealing the challenges of being in a different country but it hasn't been and today is the most chilled we have been the entire trip. We are sat outside the most amazing B&B we have ever stayed in, being completely pampered by the host Janet and her really cute fur babies Mia and Josie. The B&B is called Red Bud Manor.

We were upgraded to the Garden Room which is stunning and came home to cookies and chocolate in the room, free water, granola bars and chocolate covered strawberries. It was pure willpower to go out and explore Eureka, we could have stayed in this little haven all night, if not for the rest of the trip.

Eureka Springs is quirky and very different from any other place we have visited so far. It is in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas and although it only has a population of around 2,000 is classified as a city. The whole city is registered on National Register of Historic Places and taking the trolley tour around the city, it is easy to see why. The streets are steep and windy, lined with Victorian cottages and manor houses, each one has its own quirky style. Downtown there are lots of cute little knickknack shops selling everything from bath products to fudge, homemade clothes and funky looking art work.

The Trolley Bus service is really impressive. There are 4 different routes taking you around historic downtown, the wider town area and to the city limits. We did the yellow loop followed by the red loop.

For dinner, Janet had recommended Ermilio's, an Italian just down the road from the B&B. It was an awesome recommendation, the food was excellent! We were so full after dinner that we ended up staggering back to the B&B and chilling out in the garden and doing a little blogging. Whilst I was on the computer, a deer came over to see me. She was less than 2 meters away and when I looked up and saw her, she just stared at me. Obviously the moment I got up to get the camera and Lee, she ran off!

After an incredibly comfortable nights stay in the Garden Room, we had a lovely breakfast! Homemade vegetable quiche and a chocolate pudding desert with coffee and juices. Janet kindly gave us an awesome picture to take home with us and it will remind us of the lovely time we had a Red Bud Manor with Janet, Mia and Josie and in Eureka.

We finally had to leave Eureka and head towards Mountain View. On our way, we stopped off at one of the springs Eureka Springs is named after, Magnetic Spring. There are a few pictures below of the spring and some more quirking things we saw in Eureka.

In the Ozarks - yay, gives me another chance to remind you to watch the Netflix series of the same name when you get back home.

Eureka Springs looks superb, probably the most picturesque city so far - really quaint and some lovely photos
